TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT OF SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANTS AND BIOGAS DIGESTER
PERFORMANCE IN SIX SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANTS OF BB, BANGALORE
Project Overview
CEMCOT undertook a strategic assignment for the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BB)
to carry out a comprehensive technical assessment of sewage treatment performance for biogas generation
efficiency across six key sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Bengaluru. This initiative was pivotal in
exploring sustainable and revenue-generating solutions using the biogas produced.
Project Scope
The project focused on two major objectives:
Performance Evaluation of existing Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and their sludge handling
systems.
To analyze the feasibility of enhancing biogas yield and develop sustainable strategies for handling
digester sludge to enable revenue generation, including potential carbon credit opportunities.
Technical and Economic Feasibility Assessment for optimal biogas digester performance and
sustainable biogas utilization through energy generation or bottling.
To evaluate biogas purification technology options and design cost-effective, efficient systems for
optimal implementation.
